X-ray diffraction structural data are reviewed for non-fused and non-p
i-complexed pentafulvenes. Three different pentafulvene groups can be
established considering the fulvenic bond distances. Structural data o
f new 1-mono and 1,4-disubstituted 2,3,6-trioxypentafulvenes and 1,4-d
isubstituted-6-amino-2,3-dioxypentafulvenes are also presented. These
compounds show characteristic structural features due to their high fu
nctionality: push-pull systems.
