These last years, 4,4'-dihydroxyazobenzene was largely used at the obt
ention of compounds important for their applications. In this paper we
present seven new aromatic azobisethers synthesized by condensation o
f sodium salt of 4,4'-dihydroxyazobenzene with following monochloromet
hylated derivatives: 1-chloro-2-(chloromethyl)benzene, 1-chloro-3-(chl
oromethyl)benzene, 1-chloro-4-(chloromethyl)benzene, 1-chloromethyl na
phtalene, 2-(chloromethyl)-1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)dione, 2-chloromethyl-1
,3-dioxolane and diphenylchoromethane. The structural characterization
of azobisethers was performed by FTIR, H-1 NMR, UV-visile spectrometr
ies and by elemental analysis. A behaviour as crystalline liquids for
these compounds is not detected.
