Abstract
A new structural material was developed - deformable cast iron possess ing a unique combination of properties: high strength along with high ductility, superior wear and corrosion resistance, low sensitivity to stress concentrators. The development was based on carefully matching the composition and the conditions of melting, casting, deformation an d heat treatment. Regarding several characteristics, deformable cast i ron surpasses cast iron and low-alloy steels.
