A METHOD OF RECONSTRUCTION OF AIR ACTIVITIES FOLLOWING A NUCLEAR ACCIDENT

A method for reconstruction of the time dependence of the air activiti es of radionuclides is presented. The method is based on the use of th e experimentally measured rime dependence of an external exposure simu ltaneously with the radionuclide soil content at some specific time. T he possibilities of the algorithm are illustrated by me example of the assessment of the iodine intake due to inhalation. The measurements c arried out at the site of the Belorussia Institute of Nuclear Energy f rom 28 April to 30 April 1986, were used as the input data for the mod el. The calculated air activities of the radionuclides and an estimati on of the iodine activity in the thyroid due to inhalation agree well with the corresponding results of independent measurements.
