Abstract
Serum levels of thymic hormones decreased in persons exposed to low do ses of ionising radiation after the Chernobyl accident. The probable c auses of secretory deficiency of the thymus are increased production o f autoantibodies reactive to thymic epithelial cells (hormone producer s) and general hormonal imbalance. The main consequence of the decreas e of thymic hormone level is hypofunction of T cells displaying a decr eased proliferative response on stimulation by various factors.
