FRACTIONAL EXCLUSION STATISTICS AND 2-DIMENSIONAL ELECTRON-SYSTEMS

Using the Thomas-Fermi approximation, we show that an interacting two dimensional electron gas may be described in terms of fractional exclu sion statistics at zero and finite temperatures when the interaction h as a short-range component. We argue that a likely physical situation for this phenomenon to occur may exist in two dimensional quantum dots .
