Abstract
This work investigates the adsorption of ions onto a gold electrode su rface using an electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance. It was fou nd that in anisole solutions adsorption of a monolayer of tetrafluorob orate anions or tetrabutylammonium cations occurred at different poten tials, whereas in ethanol only tetrabutylammonium cations were adsorbe d. The implications that this has upon electron-transfer processes are discussed.
