Abstract
Coronary artery bypass surgery remains the standard modality for revas cularization of significant left main coronary artery stenoses, Despit e major improvement in equipment and operator technique, balloon angio plasty of significant unprotected left main obstruction generally is c ontraindicated. When catheter intervention is required, Palmaz-Schatz stenting may offer better predictability of the acute result, and poss ibly improved long-term outcome. (C) 1996 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
