Abstract
Physically interesting exact solutions are constructed for a large cla ss of nonlinear nonintegrable evolution equations. These solutions des cribe the interaction of traveling waves. They exhibit rich phenomenol ogy including breaking of solitary waves. Generalized conditional symm etries and bilinearity are used to derive these exact results.
