Abstract
From october 1990 to september 1992 23, fiberoptic bronchoscopies were performed in 17 children admitted to the N.I.C.U. of the univeristy d ue to worsening of their respiratory problems. The age of these patien ts varied to 9 days to one year. 5 patients had bronchopulmonary dyspl asia, 11 were undergoing assisted mechanical ventilation and 3 present ed complications due to intubation. Obstructive lesions were observed in 16 out off 23 endoscopies.
