Rb. Zamarreno et al., STUDY OF ORGANIC-COMPOUNDS PRESENT IN THE COAL LAYER IN THE LOTA BED, Boletin de la Sociedad Chilena de Quimica, 40(4), 1995, pp. 359-364
The organic compound present in samples of the coal-layer of the Arauc
o area were studied and characterized. In this paper we present the re
sults of the Lota bed. The samples were extracted with dichloromethane
in a Soxhlet during 24 hours. The solvent was removed in rotary evapo
rator under vacuum. The compounds of the extract were analyzed, by the
Douglas W. Later method(1)), using column chromatography techniques w
as done by gas-liquid chromatography, using internal standard and mass
detector coupled. We could characterize a large number of organic com
pounds. They are the following: aliphatic hydrocarbons from C11 to C30
, aromatic compounds and sulphur and oxygen compounds. The results wer
e compared with those studies carried out on samples of coal-beds of d
ifferent latitudes.
