K. Takenouchi et al., EFFECT OF MASKED CHROMIUM COMPLEXES ON THERMAL-STABILITY OF COLLAGEN, Journal of the Society of Leather Technologists and Chemists, 79(6), 1995, pp. 188-194
Hide powder was tanned with various kinds of masked chromium chloride
solutions and components separated from the masked chrome solutions. T
he thermal stability of the tanned hide powders was studied by DSC. Th
e thermal stability varied with the bind and amount of chromium comple
xes fixed by hide powder. Formato- and acetatochromium complexes with
charges corresponding to +2 and +3 had a much greater effect on the th
ermal stability. Cationic oxalatochromium complexes also had a conside
rable effect, but anionic oxalatochromate complexes had little effect.
