Being able to generate an operator assignment schedule for a (m) multi
-stage, (n) operator production line, with n less or equal to m, and w
ith multiple objectives, is a problem which continues to exist both in
the literature and in practice. This paper illustrates how weighted b
ackward dynamic programming and simulation can be combined in a decisi
on support system (DSS) to address such a problem and to evaluate the
characteristics of a dynamic production line.
