The complex [Pd(dpmMe)(2)]Cl-2 [dpmMe = 1,1-bis-(diphenylphosphino) et
hane] was prepared from [PdCl2- (PhCN)(2)], whilst [Pd(2)X(2)(mu-dpmMe
)(2)] complexes were prepared from [PdCl(2)PhCN)(2)] and [Pd(PPh(3))(4
)] (X = Cl), [PdBr(eta(3)-C3H5)](2) (X = Br), or (Pd2Cl2(mu-dpmMe)(2)]
(X = I). Reaction of [Pd2Cl2(mu-dpmMe)(2)] with MeO(2)C-C=CCO(2)Me(L)
gave the A-frame complex (PdCl2(mu-L) (mu-dpmMe)(2)]. The complexes [
PtCl2(dpmMe)] and [Pt(dpmMe)(2)]Cl-2 were prepared from [PtCl2(Bu(t)CN
)(2)]. Treatment of either [PtCl2(dpmMe)] with PhC=CLi or [Pt(dpmMe)(2
)]Cl-2 with MeONa gave [Pt(Ph(2)PCMe . PPh(2))(2)]. Reaction of [PtCl2
(Bu(t)CN)(2)] with [Pt(PPh(3))(4)] and dpmMe gave a mixture of [Pt2Cl2
(mu-dpmMe)(2)] and [PtCl2(dpmMe)]. The heterobimetallic complexes [Pt(
C=CPh)(2) (mu-dpmMe)(2)MX] (MX=HgCl2 or AgCl) were made from the react
ion of [Pt(dpmMe)(2)]Cl-2 with Hg(C=CPh)(2) or Ag(C=CPh), respectively
. Reaction of the Pt-Hg complex with Na2S gave [Pt(C=CPh)(2) (eta(1)-d
pmMe)(2)]. Oxidative addition of MeI to [PtMe(2) . (dpmMe)] gave two P
t-IV isomers of the formula [PtMe(3)I(dpmMe)].
