Abstract
Well defined, narrow molecular weight distribution polydimethylsiloxan e (PDMS) oligomers containing single, terminal, reactive end groups we re synthesised by the anionic polymerisation of hexamethylcyclotrisilo xane (D3). A variety of functionalities were obtained by termination w ith an appropriate silyl chloride end blocker, e.g. styryl, allyl, sil yl chloride, silane, hexenyl etc. Certain monomeric end blockers were also synthesised where necessary. The resulting oligomers were subject ed to detailed characterisation using H-1 NMR, gel permeation chromato graphy (GPC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and IR spectroscopy.
