Abstract
Ab initio symmetric stretch/bend potential surfaces for the first four (1)A(1) Rydberg states of H2O are used to determine diagonal and off- diagonal quantum defect functions for future dynamical calculations. P redictions about higher members of the (1)A(1) Rydberg series are in g ood agreement with available experimental data.
