Abstract
Studies were conducted on the copolymerization of acrylamide (AM) with acrylonitrile (AN) by utilizing ammonium persulfate-N,N,-N',N'-tetram ethyl ethylenediamine (APS-TMEDA) system as initiator in aqueous solut ion. The copolymerization rate equation was established as R(p) is-pro portional-to [APS]0.38[TMEDA]0.28[AM]0.91[AN]0.32 The reactivity ratio s were determined by both of the Fineman-Ross and Kelen-Tudos methods, and the values of r1 (AM) and r2 (AN) were determined to be r1 = 0.73 8 and r2 = 0.050. The apparent activation energy (E(a)) of the copolym erization was calculated to be 25.03 kJ/mol.
