Abstract
This paper presents results of performance analysis studies on an elev en story steel moment frame building located in west Los Angeles which was damaged during the 17 January 1994 Northridge earthquake. Extensi ve field inspections of damage were performed prior to the start of th is investigation. These inspections/tests revealed some degree of dama ge in more than 28% of the moment frame joints of the building. Extens ive two- and three-dimensional, linear and nonlinear, static and dynam ic analyses of the building are conducted as a part of this study to i nvestigate and correlate observed damage with various elastic and inel astic analytical damage predictors. Statistical correlations of observ ed damage patterns with various analytical damage indicators are prese nted.
