R. Vaillon et al., RADIATIVE HEAT-TRANSFER IN ORTHOGONAL CURVILINEAR COORDINATES USING THE DISCRETE ORDINATES METHOD, Journal of quantitative spectroscopy & radiative transfer, 55(1), 1996, pp. 7-17
A general expression for the pathlength derivative of radiation intens
ity is given in spatial directional orthogonal curvilinear coordinates
system. Former results in the most commonly used coordinates systems
are retrieved. The Discrete Ordinates general formulation is also give
n. The numerical methodology for solving the Radiative Transfer Equati
on in a participating medium described in curvilinear coordinates (inf
inite cylinder based on a convex curve) is detailed. The method is tes
ted in the case of the radiative equilibrium of a gray medium confined
between infinite black concentric cylinders based: (a) on circles for
which some previous results are available, (b) on ellipses.
