Transformations in monolayers of novolac epoxy oligomer at the surface
of aqueous solutions of an amine curing agent were studied using Four
ier transform infrared spectroscopy and the film balance method. The c
onditions under which the reaction of epoxy groups with water is suppr
essed and polycondensation of epoxy and amine groups prevails were als
o determined. As a result of this reaction, the collapse pressure of t
he monolayer increases 15 times and the limiting area per molecule inc
reases 2.5 times. The topochemical pattern of transformations in a mon
olayer of epoxy oligomer was substantiated and the parameters of the A
vraami-Erofeev equation were calculated. The composition of a two-dime
nsional network of epoxy polymer was evaluated using molecular models,
IR spectroscopic data, compression isotherms, and the Gibbs adsorptio
n equation.
