Abstract
The phytyl side chain of chlorophyll a derived from exogenous C-13- an d H-2-labelled mevalonate in cultured cells of two species of liverwor ts. Heteroscyphus planus and Lophocolea heterophylla, is shown to be p referentially labelled in the farnesyl diphosphate-derived portion, wh ile its biosynthesis from exogenous C-13-glycine results in equivalent labelling.
