Abstract
Monte Carlo simulations of proton-induced spallation reactions show th at the shape of sensitive volume determines the variation of SEU cross section with angle of incidence. As the sensitive volume dimensions b ecome smaller, the cross section variation becomes more pronounced. CO SMIC simulation results are shown to be consistent with results from a simulation code by others [1], a direct contradiction to statements m ade in Ref. [1]. The simulation results somewhat consistent with exper imental measurements on surface barrier detectors.
