SYNTHESIS OF N-(2-F-ALKYLETHYL)-N-ALKYL-2 -BROMOACETAMIDES, PRECURSORS OF BISEGMENTED COMPOUNDS CONTAINING FLUOROCARBON HYDROCARBON TAILS/

In this paper we report the synthesis of new bisegmented intermediates (containing a perfluorocarbon tail and one hydrocarbon) which have Se en obtained readily and with good yields. Cationic amphiphiles have be en obtained from these precursors and their surface properties have be en evaluated. Furthermore, a new series of compounds incorporating a r igid core have been synthesized. These exhibit the main characteristic s for their application as thermotropic liquid crystal materials.
