We report the discovery of a new dinosaur locality in the Early Cretac
eous Sao Khua Formation at Wat Sakawan (Kalasin Province, northeastern
Thailand). This site contains more or less disarticulated skeletons o
f at least four individuals of the sauropod Phuwiangosaurus. The new f
inds provide evidence about hitherto unknown skeletal elements of Phuw
iangosaurus, such as the upper jaw and the teeth, which are slender an
d only slightly spatulate, This confirms that Phuwiangosaurvs was clea
rly different from the euhelopodids from the Jurassic of China. Saurop
ods appear to have been the dominant herbivorous dinosaurs in South Ea
st Asia at the beginning of the Cretaceous.
