Abstract
The rotational spectra of the excited vibrational states of 3-iodothio phene in the frequency region 10-35 GHz were investigated. The a-type R-branch transitions of two vibrational modes were assigned, and the r otational constants and the centrifugal distortion constants were dete rmined. The nuclear quadrupole coupling constant tensors were obtained from the hyperfine splittings of the rotational transitions. The vibr ation-rotation constants of the two vibrational modes were also determ ined. The energy differences between the ground and excited states ass ociated with the two vibrational modes of the C-I bond were estimated by measuring the relative intensities of the absorption lines.
