EMISSION-SPECTRA OF THE (1)(1)SIGMA(-(1)(1)SIGMA(+)(G) TRANSITION OF B-2()(U))

Emission spectra of the (1)(1) Sigma(u)(+)-(1)(1) Sigma(g)(+) electron ic transition of B-2 produced by discharging dilute mixtures of dibora ne followed by expansion through a corona excited supersonic expansion source have been recorded and analyzed for the first time. The spectr a of the 0-0, 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, and 4-4 vibrational bands of this transit ion will be presented along with their rotational analyses. The molecu lar parameters that resulted from fitting the data to a Dunham-type ex pansion will be reported and compared with recent theoretical calculat ions. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
