Ij. Mcewan et al., MECHANISMS OF TRANSCRIPTION ACTIVATION BY NUCLEAR RECEPTORS - STUDIESON THE HUMAN GLUCOCORTICOID RECEPTOR TAU(1), TRANSACTIVATION DOMAIN, Mutation research, 333(1-2), 1995, pp. 15-22
Nuclear receptors are important signalling molecules that directly med
iate the effects of hormones, vitamins and xenobiotic compounds at the
level of gene expression. Several members of this superfamily of prot
eins have been implicated in receptor-dependent carcinogenesis. In thi
s review, we summarise how these receptors can function as transcripti
on factors with particular emphasis on the mechanism of transcription
activation by the human glucocorticoid receptor tau(1) transactivation
domain.
