J. Grainger et al., ISOMER IDENTIFICATION OF CHLORINATED DIBENZO-P-DIOXINS BY ORTHOGONAL SPECTROSCOPIC AND CHROMATOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUES, Chemosphere, 32(1), 1996, pp. 13-23
Isorner differentiation of chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin (CDD) isomer p
air components was examined by three orthogonal chromatographic (gas c
hromatography, liquid chromatography, and micellar electrokinetic chro
matography) techniques and three orthogonal spectroscopic (Fourier tra
nsform infrared and carbon-13 and proton nuclear magnetic resonance) t
echniques. Synthetic CDD isomer pair mixtures from the same sample set
were separated by methods using independent partitioning dynamics and
identified by spectroscopic methods using independent energy/structur
e transformations. This integrated approach using orthogonal methods m
inimizes isomer identification error probability and results in an exc
ellent agreement among methods in isomer assignment.
