CAN HORIZONTAL P-WAVES BE TRAPPED AND RESONATE IN A SHALLOW SEDIMENTARY BASIN

It has been proposed recently that horizontal P waves can be trapped a nd resonate laterally in a shallow sedimentary basin. In this work, it is shown both theoretically and numerically that in a sedimentary bas in of finite lateral extent trapped horizontal P waves, if they exist, are not a stable way of propagation and therefore cannot resonate.
