F. Velasco et al., IMPROVING THE CORROSION-RESISTANCE OF POWER METALLURGY AUSTENITIC STAINLESS-STEELS THROUGH INFILTRATION, Corrosion, 52(1), 1996, pp. 47-52
Types 316L (UNS S31603) and 304L (UNS S30403) sintered stainless steel
s (SS) were produced in a laboratory furnace at 1,330 degrees C and in
filtrated with copper and bronze in different percentages to determine
their effect on the corrosion resistance of the presintered SS. Corro
sion resistance was studied by immersion in sulfuric (H2SO4), hydrochl
oric (HCl), and nitric (HNO3) acids and by electrochemical potentiokin
etic reactivation (EPR) tests. Both copper and bronze improved corrosi
on resistance highly in HCl and boiling H2SO4. Results of EPR and bell
ing H2SO4 immersion tests showed good concordance.
