Dr. Mercer et al., EVALUATION OF ENTOMOPATHOGENIC BACTERIA AGAINST AEDES-POLYNESIENSIS, THE VECTOR OF LYMPHATIC FILARIASIS IN FRENCH-POLYNESIA, Journal of the American Mosquito Control Association, 11(4), 1995, pp. 485-488
Thirteen strains among 3 species of entomopathogenic bacteria were tes
ted against 3 medically important mosquito species in French Polynesia
. Two strains of Bacillus thuringiensis were highly toxic to Aedes pol
ynesiensis, Aedes aegypti, and Culex quinquefasciatus. Six of 7 strain
s of Bacillus sphaericus tested were highly toxic to Cx. quinquefascia
tus but not to the Aedes spp. Clostridium bifermentans serovar. malays
ia was more toxic to Ae. polynesiensis than to the other 2 species. En
tomopathogenic bacteria merit field testing for larval mosquito contro
l in French Polynesia.
