Abstract
This special issue focuses on the factors facilitating and impeding di scipline development in developing countries. Eight articles, original ly presented in two IUPsyS-sponsored symposia at the International Con gress of Applied Psychology in Madrid, Spain in July 1994, articulate the conditions under which research is conducted and which influence d iscipline progress in developing countries. This introduction summariz es the commonalities among these papers and their implications for the future of the discipline.
