W. Olberding et al., AMBIENT-TEMPERATURE INTERCALATION OF NA AND IN INTO TAS2, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals science and technology. Section A, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals, 244, 1994, pp. 179-184
We report on ambient temperature intercalation of Na and In into TaS2
(2H and 1T) using liquid metal eutectics and amalgams (In0.17Ga0.83, I
n0.5Hg0.5, Sn0.15Ga0.85, and NaxHg), The intercalation process was mon
itored in situ by measuring the Ta-181 nuclear-quadrupole-interaction
(NQI) via time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC). At
ambient temperature, a single metal species is intercalated selectivel
y, The final products were found to be comparable to those obtained by
high temperature synthesis, In the case of 1T-TaS2 a soft chemistry i
nduced Ta-coordination change from octahedral to trigonal-prismatic wa
s observed.
