Abstract
The effect of hydrothermal treatment temperature (in the range 150-300 degrees C) on the structural parameters of silica gels was investigat ed. Silica gels with different starting porous structures were used fo r modification. The specific surface areas of the modified sorbents va ried from 830 to 12 m(2) g(-1). Simple mathematical equations describi ng the changes in specific surface area and pore diameter with treatme nt temperature are proposed. From the mathematical and/or graphical de pendences it is possible to program the hydrothermal treatment process to obtain silica gels with desired porous structures.
