The enthalpies of ion transfer from methanol to water, formamide, etha
nol, 1-propanol, and 2-propanol were determined on the basis of publis
hed data on the enthalpies of transfer of Bu(4)NBr and Bu(4)NBPh(4) wi
th account taken of universal ion solvation and ion-solvent specific i
nteractions. The obtained values differ considerably from those determ
ined on the Ph(4)As(+) - Ph(4)B(-) scale. Specific features of solvati
on of Bu(4)N(+), Pr4N+ Ph(4)As(+), Ph(4)B(-), and Br- ions in the exam
ined solvents are discussed. The use of cohesion energy density for li
quids in multiple regression equations does not allow adequate estimat
ion. of the contribution of cavity formation in an H-bonded solvent.
