Abstract
Forty-seven listeria, monocytogenes isolates were analysed using multi locus enzyme electrophoresis in two laboratories. Both assayed for the same six enzymes, but one used a starch gel method and the other poly acrylamide gels. The starch gel method distinguished six electrophoret ic types whereas the polyacrylamide gel method produced 17 different e lectrophoretic types. The polyacrylamide gel method was more discrimin atory than the starch gel method.
