M. Uberoi et Cj. Pereira, EXTERNAL MASS-TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS FOR MONOLITH CATALYSTS, Industrial & engineering chemistry research, 35(1), 1996, pp. 113-116
Monolith catalyst reactors are used for controlling emissions of autom
otive and industrial pollutants. Various external mass transfer correl
ations are available for small-pitch catalysts typical of automotive a
pplications; however, little information is available for catalysts ha
ving larger pitch and length that are more typical of power plant appl
ications. The present paper proposes a new correlation Sh = 2.696[1 0.139ScRe(d/L)](0.81) based on data for the mass transfer limited perf
ormance for the CO oxidation reaction in square-channeled titania-sili
ca honeycomb catalysts. The correlation is suitable for describing the
performance of square-channeled honeycomb catalysts used for the sele
ctive catalytic removal of nitric oxide from power plant effluents. Th
e differences between the present correlation and other literature cor
relations are discussed.
