Abstract
Age-0 (7-9-month-old) and age-1 (19-21-month-old) golden shiners Notem igonus crysoleucas were taken from ponds during the winter and held in tanks at 25 +/- 2 degrees C at a photoperiod of 15.5 h of light and 8 .5 h of darkness for two trials (16 November-17 December and 24 Januar y-10 March). Eggs and fry were produced by both age-0 and age-1 fish b y the fourth week of the second trial. Spawning occurred 6-8 weeks bef ore fish would normally spawn in the spring.
