THE MOLECULAR-DYNAMICS OF POLY(1,4-TRANS-BUTADIENE) IN THE AMORPHOUS STATE AND IN AN INCLUSION COMPLEX

The molecular dynamics of poly(1,4-trans-butadiene) in the amorphous s tate at bulk density and in its inclusion complex with perhydrotriphen ylene are compared here. The internal motions differ in the two system s, due to the occupation of gauche states at CH2-CH2 of the amorphous polymer, but the exclusion of gauche states at these bonds in the incl usion complex. This difference in conformational preferences at CH2-CH 2 has consequences for the decay rates for the orientation autocorrela tion functions.
