Abstract
Infrared and Raman spectra on powder samples of KSb(PO4)(2), CsSb(PO4) (2), CsTa(PO4)(2) and CsNb(PO4)(2) and polarized Raman spectra on a si ngle crystal of KSb(PO4)(2) were recorded. A normal coordinate analysi s using a generalized force field was performed for KSb(PO4)(2). The w hole results allowed an assignment of the observed frequencies. It was possible to characterize the P-O, Sb-O and M-O bonds (M = alkaline ca tion) in layered phosphatoantimonates. The strength of the Sb-O, Ta-O and Nb-O bonds is compared.
