M. Markus et al., THE SUBCELLULAR-LOCALIZATION OF 17-BETA-HYDROXYSTEROID DEHYDROGENASE TYPE-4 AND ITS INTERACTION WITH ACTIN, Journal of steroid biochemistry and molecular biology, 55(5-6), 1995, pp. 617-621
The porcine 17 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 4 is the key enz
yme for the inactivation of estradiol. Its localization in peroxisomes
was proven by immunogold electron microscopy. Interactions of the 17
beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase with cytoskeletal proteins might be
mandatory for a topical assignment of enzymatic activity to defined su
bcellular compartments.
