Cm. Chambers et al., ECDYSTEROID TITERS DURING POSTEMBRYONIC DEVELOPMENT OF DERMANYSSUS-GALLINAE (ACARI, DERMANYSSIDAE), Journal of medical entomology, 33(1), 1996, pp. 11-14
Ecdysteroid titers in methanolic extracts of protonymphal and deutonym
phal stages of the chicken mite, Dermanyssus gallinae (De Geer), were
measured using radioimmunoassay. Highest titers of ecdysteroids were p
resent 24 h after feeding. Further studies using high-performance liqu
id chromatography radioimmunoassay showed that ecdysteroid immunoposit
ive material had the same retention time as 20-hydroxyecdysone and ecd
ysone. Ecdysteroid conjugates appear to be present in polar and apolar
fractions.
