Abstract
Etching tanks used in hot-clip-galvanizing companies are sometimes des troyed by corrosion within the welding seam areas. The aim of this inv estigation was to find out the influence of elements - especially copp er - in unalloyed steel plates. As a result of this investigation it c an be said, that the resistance of steel places with about 0,25 % Cu u nd sulfur contents below 0,004 % is approximately 30 to 50 % higher th an such of plates without copper (< 0,1 %). The copper content of weld ing electrodes must conform to that of the plates. All plates used to manufacture an etching tank should belong to the same charge.
