The electropolymerization of 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole has been realized.
The supporting medium was distilled water/methyl alcohol containing K
OH. Cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry techniques were used to c
haracterize the new polymer. The in situ electropolymerization of the
monomer gives an insulating polymer. Heat treatment of the polymer imp
roves its homogeneity and adherence to the Cu electrode on which it is
formed. The formation of the polymer on the surface of copper gives r
ise to a decrease in both atmospheric and humid corrosion of copper.
