Abstract
On the basis of partial 16S rRNA gene sequences and the results of Sou thern blot analyses, we confirmed the division of the genus Mobiluncus into the species Mobiluncus curtisii and Mobiluncus mulieris. Divisio n of M. curtisii into M. curtisii subsp. curtisii and M. curtisii subs p. holmesii was not supported by our data.
