Ccam. Gielen et B. Vanbolhuis, RECIPROCAL AND COACTIVATION COMMANDS ARE NOT SUFFICIENT TO DESCRIBE MUSCLE ACTIVATION PATTERNS, Behavioral and brain sciences, 18(4), 1995, pp. 754-755
Recent results have shown that the relative activation of muscles is d
ifferent for isometric contractions and for movements. These results e
xclude an explanation of muscle activation patterns by a combination o
f reciprocal and coactivation commands. These results also indicate th
at joint stiffness is not uniquely determined and that it may be diffe
rent for isometric contractions and movements.
