Abstract
In this article we demonstrate the immunocytochemical localization of nitric oxide synthase in mitochondria isolated from heart, skeletal mu scle, and kidney, using a monoclonal antibody directed against the end othelial form of nitric oxide synthase. The possibility that mitochond rially located nitric oxide synthase is a ubiquitous regulator of mito chondrial oxidative phosphorylation in mammalian cells is discussed.
