R. Baishya et al., ON SOME IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS OF VHF RADIO-EMISSION ASSOCIATED WITH LARGE EXTENSIVE AIR SHOWERS, Nuovo cimento della Società Italiana di Fisica. A. Nuclei, particles and fields, 108(11), 1995, pp. 1357-1364
Experimental studies of radio-emission are done at 110 MHz and 220 MHz
frequency in the VHF region using sophisticated detection and data ac
quisition system. Results obtained on i) frequency spectrum and latera
l distribution of field strength, ii) variation of field strength (E)
with height of shower maximum (H-m), iii) frequency distribution of de
pth of shower maximum (X(m)) are presented and are compared with theor
etical calculations. An attempt is made to estimate primary mass compo
sition by radio method.
