L. Mennabarreto et al., BECOMING CIRCADIAN - A ONE-YEAR STUDY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SLEEP-WAKE CYCLE IN CHILDREN, Brazilian journal of medical and biological research, 29(1), 1996, pp. 125-129
Data on three children's sleep-wake behavior during the first year of
life submitted to spectral analysis reveal the presence of several fre
quencies in the circadian and ultradian ranges. The changes in the res
ulting spectra as age progresses show both an increase in overall rhyt
hmicity, i.e., more data are explained by regular oscillations, and ir
regular changes in the circadian component. This circadian component s
hows an increase in power which appears at different ages among the in
dividuals studied.
