Abstract
Long-range atomic order (LRO), which controls several properties of in termetallic compounds, can be modified by heat treatments or by irradi ation. Thermally induced LRO changes were investigated by electrical r esistivity measurements in Ni3Al- and TiAl-based intermetallics, and i nformation on equilibrium order and order-change kinetics was obtained with particular emphasis on the effects of chemical composition. For irradiation-induced order changes, a High Voltage Electron Microscope was used both for irradiation and structural investigation in Ni3Al, a nd the effect of boron as a third element was determined.
